Jimmy Hallyburton has been named Boise City Council President as Holli Woodings resigns.

Woodings, who announced she would resign a week ago to move with her family to the Washington D.C. area to pursue other career opportunities, was honored at her final city council meeting on Tuesday evening by Mayor McLean and fellow city council members.

Hallyburton, who has served on the city council since 2020, was nominated by Woodings to take over as president. Hallyburton is the founder of the Boise Bicycle Project, and has been instrumental in helping fix and distribute over 15,000 bicycles to the community in need.

Hallyburton took to Facebook after the conclusion of the city council meeting to post a message of thanks and farewell.

There are many accomplishments I could have pointed to tonight, but the one that really stuck out to me was her leadership and during the pandemic. Steering the ship during normal times isn't easy. In 2020, it was nearly impossible, but she kept driving through - supporting small businesses on the verge of collapse, putting forward new policy to improve the city, and helping mentor brand-new council members like me.It wasn't easy for anyone, I know it wasn't easy for her, but I'm glad she was there, and I know the city is stronger because of it. Holli I wish you luck on whatever is next, and I know there are great things to come for you and your family in D.C. It was an honor to have you nominate me to take over as Council President, I take the responsibility seriously, and I may be reaching out for advice every once in awhile!
