According to the Idaho Press House Bill 415, the bill that would allow teachers to carry guns with an enhanced concealed carry permit, has passed the House.

Bill 415 passed passed 53-16 with one absent.

Rep. Ted Hill, R-Eagle, said “We just have to give these people the opportunity to defend themselves,” saying that schools are "soft targets" because employees aren't armed.

Rep. Mark Sauter, R-Sandpoint, said “This begs for continuous and consistent and some pretty detailed training and that’s what I was really looking for and I’m not seeing that,”

All the Democrats along with Reps. Lance Clow, R-Twin Falls; Dori Healey, R-Boise; Jack Nelsen, R-Jerome; Julie Yamamoto, R-Caldwell, and Rep. Greg Lanting, R-Twin Falls. voted against the bill.

Bill 415 will now head to the Senate.
