The U.S. flag and the Hawaii state flag are to be flown at half-staff at the Hawaii State Capitol and at all state offices and agencies, as well as the Hawai’i National Guard in the state of Hawai’i from sunrise until sunset today in observance of those that lost their lives on Dec. 7, 1941.
“This is a day for all of the world, but especially Hawaii, to solemnly honor the sacrifices of so many service members and civilians who lost their lives during the December 7, 1941 attack that changed the course of world history,” said Gov. Josh Green in a news release. “We are grateful for the peace that has since reigned between the U.S. and Japan, and for the especially close ties forged between Japan and Hawaii.”
